How long have I considered myself to be in a different age range than missionaries?

Last night we had the missionaries over for dinner. Boy can those kids eat! I remember when I had an appetite like that and still didn't gain weight. Oh, to be young again.

I realized while we were doing dinner, I view them more as kids that need to be taken care of then people close to my same age (they were on the tail end of the missions). How is it that in just 7 years I could have such a change in mentality towards these young men? I am turning into a mothering figure. Now, maybe it is just because I am pregnant, I think more likely it is because I have three kids and they are growing up so fast. I remember my nieces and nephews at the same age my kids are now and they are not too far from being missionaries themselves. It won't be long until it's my own children, but it wasn't that long ago that my friends were waiting around for their missionaries to come home.

It is crazy how fast life flies by! My baby boy is going to be in middle school and young mens in just 1 and 1/2 years!! The missionaries look soooo young. It doesn't seem like that long ago when I was in college and I would see the missionaries and think they were cute....they are babies now.

What was crazy was last night while I was out on exchanges with them, the year 1994 came up for some reason. I can't remember why. But they both were talking about how they were in Kindergarten that year.

I feel similarly, and then realize i got married at 18 and had Emma at their age. Then I sit there baffled at why it is I still think of them as kids... But i do.
